John Smoltz

John Smoltz is a former Major League Baseball pitcher and current sports broadcaster, best known for his distinguished career with the Atlanta Braves. Over 21 seasons in the MLB (1988–2008), Smoltz established himself as one of the most accomplished and versatile pitchers in the history of the game. A key member of the Braves’ dominant rotation during the 1990s, he helped lead the franchise to a World Series championship in 1995.

Smoltz earned the National League Cy Young Award in 1996 and was selected to eight All-Star Games. Notably, he excelled both as a starting pitcher and as a closer, becoming the only pitcher in MLB history to record at least 200 wins and 150 saves. He finished his career with 213 wins, 154 saves, and more than 3,000 strikeouts.

Inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015, Smoltz is widely respected for his competitive drive, leadership, and postseason success. Following his playing career, he transitioned into broadcasting and serves as a lead MLB analyst for Fox Sports.
